Granville Street starts near the Waterfront Station on Burrard Inlet and runs the entire length of downtown, crosses the Granville Bridge to Vancouver's West Side, and carries on south across the breadth of the city before crossing the Arthur-Laing Bridge to Vancouver International Airport.
Similarly, the low numbers on north-south streets start on the Canada Place Pier side and increase southward in increments of 100 per block (the 600 block of Thurlow St. is 2 blocks from the 800 block) toward False Creek and Granville Island.

From the early to mid 20th century, the northwest end of Robson Street was known as a centre of German culture and commerce in Vancouver, and for a long time was referred to as the "Robsonstrasse," even by non-Germans (this name lives on in the Robsonstrasse Hotel on the street).
Robson Street is particularly famous for the fashion shops and dining that is centred on the two blocks between Burrard and Bute Streets, but which extends from Granville Street in the southeast to Denman Street in the northwest.
Robson Street is also popular throughout the Lower Mainland as a cruising street, with many exotic and rare cars and motorcycles present every weekend and throughout the summer.

The applicant advised the corner of Burrard and Dunsmuir had come under scrutiny as not being good for public open space, and this proposed tower would no doubt contribute to the public realm.

PURPOSE On March 26, 1996, a notice of motion was introduced at Council to defer a decision on Burrard Bridge, institute trials over the next six months, and address problems on the north shore of False Creek and English Bay.
The purpose of this report is to advise briefly on the status of these issues, and to recommend a source of funding to implement a trial program.
Two options that were presented to Council on September 12, 1995, and that have been publicly discussed for several months, are illustrated in Appendix A. Public feedback over this time has been low, and there was not a strong consensus on a particular option.

The owners are working on a better parking arrangement within the Bentall building parkade, but you are probably better advised to park across the street and use the less labyrinthine plaza entrance.
After two weeks of operation the place was already highly popular with a friendly ambience for early diners, tailing off a little as the night goes on.
The windows are see-through, but fl on the outside, and there is a section behind a divider, where you can sit observing the world of Burrard St. without being noticed yourself.

HNR has been keeping a close eye on the Fantastic Four overnight filming going on at Burrard and Hastings over the last few weeks.
Photoboy and Lightdude have been doing their best to capture the action but even with the most pro photo gear it’s hard to get decent nighttime shots from a distance.
One scene involved a Fire Truck crashing with water exploding everywhere...the crane with dripping water bucket can be seen in one of the night time shots we’ve posted.
