Who Are We The Bursledon Village band was formed in 1977 mainly to play for local dances but also to keep Dave Ingledew the melodeon player out of mischief.
Bursledon is a little village just to the East of Southampton and the initial rehearsals were held in the local pub, "The Jolly Sailor".
Since our initial booking for a Church Social in Bursledon Village Hall we have played for over 1,500 dances in places as diverse as village halls, pubs, marques, school halls, hospitals and even the South Bank Centre in London.

Until recent years both sailing and pulling races started and finished in Busledon Pool, but due to increases of moorings and traffic on the Hamble River the sailing races for larger craft are now organised from a committee boat in Southampton Water with courses laid in the Solent.
The Regatta is organised and run by a comittee of local people still reprensenting the three villages - and relies on funds from the generous support given by well-wishers to finance the not inconsiderable expenses involved.
With the increase in the Bursledon Gig Fleet from 4 to 11 during 2005 this years series of races, culminating at the Regatta, promises to be hard fought.

Bursledon could be set for a new library now that the Lib Dem Borough Council has agreed over £300,000 towards the project.
The Borough Council has worked closely with the Bursledon Community Association in developing the project with the Library Service.
