  Burt Alvord
The son of a justice of the peace, Alvord was born in 1866 in the Arizona Territory.
Often traveling with his father Alvord was present at Tombstone, Arizona during the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral at the age of 15.
Alvord was later appointed deputy sheriff by Cochise County Sheriff John Slaughter in 1886 and quickly established a reputation as an excellent tracker bringing in many cattle rustlers and other wanted criminals.

Alvord came West with his father, a justice of the peace, at an early age.
For the next four years Alvord helped Slaughter track down numerous thieves and rustlers, and, as an amiable frequenter of bars, he was particularly adept at ferreting out information concerning the whereabouts of various fugitives.
Alvord was recaptured in 1904, but after two years in prison at Yuma he was released and went to Latin America.

In 1886, at the age of twenty, Alvord was appointed Deputy Sheriff of Cochise County by the newly-elected Sheriff, John Slaughter.
Within no time, Alvord earned a reputation as an excellent tracker as he brought in a number of cattle rustlers and other wanted fugitives.
When Alvord and Stiles went for their guns, the Rangers returned fire hitting Alvord twice in the leg and Stiles in the arm.

His position in the railroad town gave him inside knowledge of a gold shipment, and on Sept. 11,1899 Alvord and some of his cronies were involved in the robbery of the westbound train at Cochise Station.

Later when Alvord ran a band of train robbers he was run down by the Arizona Rangers and spent a couple of years in the pen at Yuma.
Shortly after he began work there, Alvord witnessed one of the most spectacular gunfights of the Old West, the showdown shoot-out between the Earp-Holliday clan and the Clanton-McLowery outlaws.
Though he was only fifteen at the time of this legendary gun battle on Oct. 26, 1881, Alvord watched carefully as the Earps bested the outlaws by their cool composure and deliberate aim, a hallmark that was to be Alvord's adopted character when acting as a lawman or an outlaw.
