Transsylvania: The Integration of Burzenland into the Hungarian Realm and the Following Events
The independent status of Burzenland is evident already in the course of 1324, when voivode Thomas was stationed in the vicinity of Reps (Rupea, Köhalom) (102).
A document of Pope John XXII of 1 February 1327 addressed to Comes Salamo of Burzenland, to the Transilvanian voivode Thomas, to the vaivoda Transalpinus Bazaras and to Mikth, banus of Slavonia, which asks help for the Dominican friars sent out against the heretics (103) illustrates the special military, political and ecclesiatical position of Burzenland.
The extraordinary position of Comes Salamo of Burzenland is also due to the military success of a coalition of forces against the Mongolian strongholds in Wallachia, formed by him, by the Wallachian voivode Basarab (the Pope calls him Bazaras) and by the Transilvanian voivode Thomas.

 Transsylvania: The Colonization
The success of the Teutonic Order to gain Burzenland was mainly due to the close marital links of Andrew II to the Teutonic nobility: Gertrud, his first wife, was a member of the influent family of the counts of Andechs-Meran.
Elizabeth, the daughter of Andrew II and Gertrud, was taken as a child to the court of the landgraves of Thuringia (Thueüringen), where she married 1221 the young landgrave Louis IV.
Because the Order granted the Burzenland settlers absolute communal autonomy, which most of the previously colonized people in the territories outside the desertum of Geisa II had lost, there was a certain migration from there to Burzenland, which king Andrew II explicitly prohibited in his rebestowal document issued around 7 May 1222 (7).

The charter of 1222 of King Andrew II gives the 'Burzenland' (the rich plain north of Brasov) to the Teutonic Knights 'usque ad terminos Brodnicorum', as far as the borders of the Brodnici, who here seem to inhabit Moldavia (symbiosis of Daco-Roumanians, Slavs and Cumans).

Popa-Lisseanu believes that the Siculi were brought into the 'Trei-Scaune' (three Seats) north of Burzenland only after the departure of the Tatars of the 1241 invasion, and that before them these two regions were inhabited by 'Brodnicii' (Slavo-Roumanians using a Latin dialect).
