Business philosophies and popular management theories - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A business philosophy or popular management theory is any of a range of accounting, marketing, public relations, operations, training, labor relations, time manent, investment, and corporate governance approaches claimed (by their proponents, and sometimes only by their proponents and selected clients) to improve business performance in some measurable or otherwise provable way.
Many theories tend either to be too narrow in focus to build a complete corporate strategy on, or too general and abstract to be applicable to specific situations.
The low success rate is fueled by the management talk circuit in which hundreds of self appointed gurus sell their books and explain their "revolutionary" and "groundbreaking" theories to audiences of business executives for phenomenal fees.

A business plan is a summary of how a business owner, manager, or entrepreneur intends to organize a commercial endeavor and implement activities necessary and sufficient for the venture to succeed.
Business plans are used internally for management and planning and are also used to convince outsiders such as banks or venture capitalists to invest money into a venture.
One common belief within business circles is that the actual plan may have little value, but what is more important is the process of planning, through which the manager gains a greater understanding of the business and of the options available.

Does business ethics teaching affect practice?
This means that the generation of managers now in their 20s and 30s, who got their business degrees since 1985, is really the only generation of managers who could have been affected by the teaching of business ethics in business schools.
If we are looking for the impact that business ethics has had on business managers, we are looking in the wrong place if we look at the top management of the large firms that have been accused of fraud.
Businesses have changed and they have changed at least in part, because we, through our teaching and through our writing, have called attention to the wrongs that were once common in certain areas.
