  COURSING IN BUTLERSBRIDGE
The event was held in “The Hare Ground” an area within the 365 acre Farnham Park in the townland of Breandrum.
The event was usually held either in December or in the early months of the new year.
Cavan United chairman was Pat Gaffney of Cullies and honorary secretaries were the late Vincent Bartley and the late Danny Smith both of Butlersbridge village.

In the clubs history, Butlersbridge have only won two junior championship titles, the first coming thirty nine years ago in 1963, a side in which their former county star the late Con Smith played a prominent role, and the second eleven years later in 1974.
Butlersbridge made the best of possible starts and dominated the opening fifteen minutes but all they had to show for it was a lead of 0-3 to 0-0, Michael Fitzpatrick getting all three scores.
Butlersbridge ended a fifteen minute spell without a score when Carlos Conlon was on target with one minute of the half remaining and left the ‘Bridge leading by 0-4 to 0-2 at the interval.

This was a concrete and galvanised structure similar to the present creamery in Butlersbridge.
By 1932, Nahilla, Urney and Butlersbridge Co-op were all closed and in1933 Killeshandra Co-op were invited to open a branch in Butlersbridge.
In 1934 the milk intake in Butlersbridge was 160,000 gallons.

 Bailieborough Shamrocks Match Reports
Bailieboro and Butlersbridge share the points in the Junior C Championship.
Both teams exchanged points during the early stages, but it was clear that Bailieboro had the upper hand as Butlersbride were struggling to cope with the shamrocks forwards in particular Jeffery Martin, Declan Daly and Mark Gilsenan.
In the second half however Butlersbridge found a new lease of life with half forward Darran Fitzpatrick making a big impact he was well supported by the full forward trio of Gerry McEntee, Gerard, McPhilips and Seamus Brady.

Reigning Cavan junior champions, Butlersbridge had their first win in Division 2 of the Cavan SFL when on Sunday 24th April they defeated West Cavan side, Swanlinbar on a scoreline of 2-9 to 0-12 in Emmet Park, Butlersbridge.
For the Swanlinbar side, R. Prior finished the game with 11 points and didn’t deserve to be on the losing side after such a display of accuracy from frees and play.

BUTLERSBRIDGE, a village, in the parish of CASTLETERRA, barony of UPPER LOUGHTEE, county of CAVAN, and province of ULSTER, 3 miles (N.N.W.) from Cavan (town); containing about 40 houses and 211 inhabitants.
It is pleasantly situated on the river Ballyhaise, and on the road from Cavan to Enniskillen (Co. Fermanagh), and has a fair on the second Monday in every month throughout the year.

Many of them are also sometimes called bishops of Triburna, probably from the name of a village near Butlersbridge, close to which village was the episcopal church and most probably the episcopal residence.
A beautiful chased silver chalice, bearing an inscription declaring that it was presented to this monastery in 1619 by Mary the wife of "Thaddeus Ruaire," is still in use in Butlersbridge chapel in the parish of Cavan.
Creevelea, as the annals declare and as its ruined chancel and cloisters attest, was one of the most imposing of the many noble structures that the Franciscans had.

Following previous public information evenings held in Clones in February and more recently in Butlersbridge, Frank Benson and Partners consultants have commenced a detailed study on the proposed “Greenway” route with funding from the Heritage Council and with the support of local community groups.
Initially the route was planned to continue south from Redhills through Butlersbridge and on to Cavan town, using the disused railway line as the route proposal.
The community groups have expressed gratitude to all the landowners along the route who have provided their consent to their local community group to allow the study to go ahead.

Rogers deposed that she was going on business to Butlersbridge when she Met O'Hara, who assaulted her in a most violent manner.
LYNCH, a Constable of the Butlersbridge station, proved that O'Hara was a woman of relaxed morality; Rogers earned her bread by scutching, but he knew nothing bad about her.

Butlersbridge got back to winning ways in the Cavan SFL Division 3 on Sunday evening 2nd July when they defeated West Cavan side Corlough in an entertaining and high-scoring game at Emmett Park, Butlersbridge.
In a game that produced plenty of whole-hearted football and plenty of excitement for the crowd in attendance it was the home side, Butlersbridge who took the spoils winning by 4-9 to 1-13.
In the end, the homesters deservedly held out for a badly-needed victory which puts them back into the promotion race, after their recent narrow defeat to the league leaders, Cavan Gaels last Wednesday evening.

The special guest on the night will be the veteran traditional entertainer Eugene Leddy of Butlersbridge, who for many years led a very successful ceili group, regarded as one of the finest and most popular ceili groups in the country.
There was disappointment for local football supporters on Sunday last when Cornafean’s league game against Maghera had to be cancelled as the pitch at Pairc Naoimh Fionnain was unplayable due to recent heavy rain.
Next weekend, Cornafean travel to Butlersbridge to take on the locals in Round 6 of the Lakeside Manor league.
