A particularly striking feature along Buttermilk Creek is Pinnacle Rock, a 40-foot pillar of shale left by erosion of the stream around it (probably through cracks that caused weakness on either side).
The grade in the upper part of the park is much gentler, as Buttermilk Creek winds from Lake Treman through the woods and by picnic areas accessible from West King Road.

As I got to the end of the trail and looked back up the largest of the falls, the sun was at a perfect angle for trying some sun-glare camera tricks.
Looking back up, a glimpse of the falls could still be seen from the parks main entrance.

The hike leads through the Stokes State Forest and the Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area, but the only map you can obtain in the Stokes State Forest office is the map of the State Park.
We got on a trail marked by white rectangles, not shown in the Stokes State Forest map, and followed a trail along the stream, which eventually separated from the white rectangle trail.
Instad of returing to Buttermilk falls by the dirt road in the valley we chose an unmarked woods road higer up.
