George Maharis was forced to leave the series temporarily due to a nasty case of hepatitis in the spring of 1962, well into filming the show's third season.
Maybe it seemed strange to everyone that Tod was traveling around the country with Buzz for two and a half years and now he's coming 'round again to some of the same cities with another guy who looks just like him; the series went on for only another year after the switch.

Toy Story superhero Buzz Lightyear is to star in his own TV series, Walt Disney and its partner Pixar Animation Studios have announced.
Tim Allen, who voiced Buzz in the two Toy Story blockbusters, will be replaced by Patrick Warburton of TV's Seinfield on the small screen.
Buzz is the only major Toy Story character to make the jump to the small screen - there will be no Woody, Jessie, Mr Potato Head or Slinky Dog.

A few months ago we here at the IESB were the first to report that Revenge of the Sith may have a MPAA rating of PG-13 and close to two years ago about a Star Wars live action TV series that was in the works.
Then we reported a bombshell of a scoop when we said that Kevin Smith may be the man who would be taking Star Wars from the hands of Uncle George and taking care of it as it was his own.
A few weeks after our first report we confronted Kevin about the rumors, actually we interviewed him about three times regarding a Star Wars TV series and he danced around the question and he has never confirmed or denied it.
