With power being delivered to all four of the wide tracks, these remarkable vehicles generate incredible traction whilst exerting a ground pressure less than half of a man's foot, the Bv206 can negotiate such obstacles as powder snow, sand dunes and marshlands and rivers.
The BV206 is ideally suited to work in arctic cold or tropical heat.
The BV206 was designed for use with armed forces around the world and is capable of being air-dropped and transported by a variety of aircraft.

The Bv206, which marries the hull of a boat with tracks can handle most terrain in most seasons but it is slow, requires gas and needs tracks and repairs as much as any vehicle.
The aircraft are all capable of carrying the Bv206 and the RHIB and may be capable of airdropping them.
Unfortunately the Bv206 and the RHIB are not armoured and thus at risk to small arms fire from discontented locals.
The Hagglund and Soner BV206 is a tracked vehicle built in Sweden and used by the British, Canadian and Swedish armed forces, and others, on snow and swampy terrain.
The hulls are made of foam-filled fibreglass sandwich which allows the vehicle to float, propulsion in water coming from the tracks.
Development of the BV206 began in 1974, with deliveries to the Swedish Army in the 1970s and 1980s.
It is a further development of the successful Bv206, and is designed to meet tough military requirements for extreme mobility under splinter protection, in all climates, with high reliability and low maintenance costs.
With extremely high mobility in all kinds of terrain and high load capacity, the Bv206S is an ideal vehicle for Rapid Deployment Forces.
The Bv206S is designed for multi-role world-wide operations and is an ideal concept for rapid deployment tasks, peace enforcement, peace keeping and humanitarian aid programs, thanks to its out-standing performance and “ready to go” capacity.
The Bv206 is a tracked, all-terrain vehicle originally developed by Alvis Hägglunds (now part of BAE Land Systems) in conjunction with the Swedish Army.
It consists of two articulated units, with all four tracks driven.
The Bv206A is an ambulance version, which is capabile of carrying strechers in the rear compartment.
The BV206, a special multi-purpose tactical vehicle, features a distinguished design because it is applied with 2 separated body chassis connected by hydraulic articulated steering system and rubber band to maximize off-road performance.
This makes the BV206 uniquely suited for operation in climatic and geographic extremes; It can easily tackle steep slopes, wetland, swamps, snow-fields and can ford shallow rivers without any special preparation
As the most prominent equipment among existing all-terrain vehicles, it is ideally suit for a wide variety of purpose including the transport of weaponry, tele-communication equipment, troops and logistics.
The BV206 consists of two units articulated together to effect steering and the turning radius is less than 27 feet fully loaded.
The bodies are built of fiberglass reinforced plastic.
The potential uses of the BV206 are practically unlimited: Ice road construction, pipeline construction, oil and gas exploration, remote drilling, ice diving, search and rescue, forestry, transmission line work, fire fighting, law enforcement, tourism, outfitting, commercial ice fishing…
With its low weight, small size and single vehicle configuration, the Artillery Hunting Radar (ARTHUR) has a very high tactical and operational mobility.
Mounted on a BV206, it is capable of manoeuvring in the most difficult of terrain.
Characteristic of the radar is its excellent capability to detect and track very small target in the presence of clutter and electronics countermeasures (ECM).

Yes, even the Bv206 needs traction aids in the ice.
Due to the fact that the Bv206 has 40 molded wheels and these wheels are very expensive new, we have created our own mold and we are working with a German vulcanizing company to renew these common wear parts at a much lower cost.
At present the estimated cost of renewing one wheel is $125.
Our instructors will show you the controls ("what no steering wheel?") then it will be up to you to master and manoeuvre up to 56 tonnes of mean metal, depending on which vehicle you are driving.
Our track-laying vehicles include the caterpillar-like BV206 "snowcat", the 16.5 tonne FV432 Armoured Personnel Carrier (everybody's favourite) and the heavy-duty Chieftain main battle tank.
See our Activity Gifts page for more information on what’s on offer and how to get into the driving seat of all these vehicles.
The German procurement agency announced last month it signed an order valued at approximately $44 million for 75 Bv206S all-terrain vehicles with BAE SYSTEMS' Land Systems Hagglunds.
The Bv206S is an armored variant of the Bv206, with a load capacity of 1,550 kg, and can tow a 2,500 kg trailer.
The vehicle can be air dropped and transported by various aircraft and helicopters.
