Following Bydgoszcz’s District Jewish Committee’s authorization, a Jewish Committee of Torun was appointed in May, 1946 – a fact apparently indicating that the information on Torun’s Jewish population tally might not have been accurate as at the time of appointing the Committee the city must have had several dozen of Jewish residents.
The presence of Torun’s Jewry was also noted in Bydgoszcz’s organization TSKZ which originated as a result of the 1950 merger of the local ŻTK and the CKŻP department.
One, housing a private apartment where the Jewish District Committee’s office used to be, is situated in the easternmost part of the Old Town, in Piekary 47.
