Topic: Bye (cricket)

Bye (cricket) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In the sport of cricket, a bye is a run scored by the batting team when the ball has not been hit by the batsman and the ball has not hit the batsman's body.
Byes are relatively rare, being the rarest form of extras in a cricket score.
A rough analogue of a bye in baseball is the passed ball.

Extra (cricket) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In the sport of cricket, an extra is a run scored by a means other than a batsman hitting the ball.

 Slater says good-bye to Cricket - www.cricketfundas.com
When he announces his retirement from first-class cricket in Sydney today, it will be in much humbler circumstances than he might once have imagined, without even a fraction of the fanfare of his friend and contemporary Steve Waugh earlier this year.
He said at the start of last season that he felt a series of big scores was just around the corner, but he managed only three matches for New South Wales before indifferent form and a debilitating back condition intervened.
He was vilified for throwing a tantrum on the field in Bombay in 2001 when his claim to have caught Rahul Dravid was rejected.

All World Knowledge - Rules of Cricket
Henry VIII called it "the sport of kings," but for many cricket is shrouded in enigma.
At heart, once removed of jargon, it remains a simple game of immense depth and beauty, combining strategy, cunning, raw hand-to-hand fist fighting to the death, teamwork and even the occasional tear of sorrow.
Lord Larry Grayson said "cricket, like chess, is won in the field," and it is certainly true that the strategic positioning of your men on the pitch can make the difference between check and checkmate.

Hi Rahul, Bye Sourav   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-10)
The regionalism that you have seen in Eden Garden is not against the Indian cricket, it is against few icons that wanted to terminate Saurav's cricketing career in a very disgraceful manner and look at our famous national spirit, that extends towards supproting that disgrace, completely oblivious of this person's contribution in Indian cricket.
I dunno what people have against ganguly, but talking about cricket and what happened in the past with captains...well i guess giving ganguly a chance to come back to form after stripping his captaincy was fair enough.Regarding ganguly's record, well, i guess there aren't many who will question that.
If Sourav performs in domestic cricket then he should be included definitely in Indian team.We should not think the Indian cricket as a political business. We should not consider a player with regional biasness also.We should take top eleven performer in the squad justly.

The Hindu : Sport / Cricket : Bye bye bubbly
One of the most enduring traditions of English sports — sipping a glass of champagne while watching a match — might soon be a thing of past with the International Cricket Council planning to ban bottles from Test venues in England as well.
Glass bottles are banned from every cricket ground in the world but England was given a one-year exemption from the ruling because the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said it needed some time to adjust to the ban.
Their responsibility is for the organisation of the sport,'' said Griffiths, a leading commercial lawyer who played cricket for Glamorgan in the late 1960s.
