I was set on a path to become a Scandinavian archaeologist until I went to Czechoslovakia after my junior year.
The first year of my graduate work I spent at the Charles University in Prague, but mostly at the year-round excavation of Bylany.
What I remember of this time in my life is that I didn’t work very hard at things that didn’t interest me (Art History and Ancient History and much of archaeology) but I did work very intensively at research projects.
