Topic: Byrds of Paradise

In the News (Wed 23 Dec 09)

Karen Allen Review: Road Home - Newsday, 1994
Busfield plays Sam Byrd, a widower who with his three children moves from New Haven, where he was a Yale philosophy professor, to Hawaii in search of a new life.
Sam Byrd, not related to such other TV greats as Robyn or Big, has come to the islands to forget after his wife is murdered during a senseless ATM robbery.
Now all they have to do is put the network executives, who kill all the good shows with their itchy trigger fingers, in straitjackets and send them on a cruise to Hawaii for the next six years, and we will have two great new series to keep us company in our old age.

The Byrds of Paradise was a great show starring Timothy Busfield as a widowed father who moves his kids (Seth Green and Jennifer Love Hewitt) to Hawaii after his wife dies.
This was a quality family show that had a lot of potential.

 THE COMPLETE EW
Thus, two new series this week: In the byrds of paradise (ABC, March 3, 8-9 p.m.), thirtysomething's Timothy Busfield is a single dad who gets a new job and drags his three kids away from snowy New Haven, Conn., to tropical Hawaii.
In the case of Byrds of Paradise, Busfield's Sam Byrd is a recent widower still depressed over the death of his wife.
The Byrds' encounters with local inhabitants and native Hawaiian culture are, on the basis of the two episodes I've seen, all too similar to those seen on last season's flop quality drama Going to Extremes.

January 23 2005, 12:26 AM To be fair it was the late 80's and 90's where the Byrds comparsions were getting thrown at the roses so its no surprise by 1997 - 1998 that Brown had a listen to what the Byrds were all about.
Byrds were absoloutley outstanding for what its worth.
