Scott played 14 seasons in the NBA and was part of the famous "Showtime" Laker teams with such greats as James Worthy, Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
A native of Inglewood, Calif., Scott averaged 14.1 points in his NBA career and has made a successful transition from player to coach as he is currently head coach of the New Jersey Nets and also coached the Eastern Conference All-Stars at the 2002 NBA All-Star Game.
The fourth overall pick in the 1983 NBA Draft by San Diego and was a three-time NBA champion with the Los Angeles Lakers in 1985, 1987 and 1988.

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana -- Byron Scott, who brought National Basketball Association playoff success to the New Jersey Nets, will try to do the same with the New Orleans Hornets.

Although I wished that Kobe (who was still too young at 21 in his 4th-year NBA season) should enroll in college and get better skills in basketball before turning to pros, both Shaquille and Kobe were ones of the greatest players in the NBA this year.
It was also their first time to win the championship title in 12 years since the last time they won (in 1988).
