CFQC, the previous Saskatoon CBC affiliate which began broadcasting a combined CBC/CTV schedule in 1969, switched exclusively to CTV in 1971 with the launch of CBKST.
In Decision CRTC 91-423 dated 28 June 1991, the Commission approved the CBC's application to change the program source of CBKST to originate from the studios of CBKT Regina.
SaskWest Television Inc. (STV), licensee of CFSK Saskatoon, submitted an intervention opposing the application for CBKST's licence renewal on the grounds that the station continues to solicit local advertising in the Saskatoon market in contravention of the restriction set out in Decision CRTC 91-423.
STV requested that the Commission impose a condition of licence on the CBC prohibiting CBKST from either soliciting or accepting local advertising in the Saskatoon market.
CBKST Saskatoon operated the following rebroadcast transmitters: CBKBT Beauval, CBKDT Buffalo Narrows, CBKCT Ile-à-la-Crosse, CBKDT-2 La Loche, CBKST-2 La Ronge, CBKST-3 Leoville, CBCS-TV-1 Meadow Lake, CBKST-5 Montréal Lake, CBKDT-1 Palmbere, CBKPT Patuanak, CBKST-6 Pinehouse Lake, CBKST-8 Southend, CBKST-4 Stanley Mission, and CBKST-1 Stranraer.

CBKT and CBKST both air the full main CBC schedule.
The CBC affiliated stations in Yorkton, CKOS-TV (originally launched June 18, 1958), and Prince Albert, CKBI-TV (on the air January 27, 1958), are now CBC-owned repeaters of CBKT and CBKST respectively.
CBKST came on the air for the first time on October 17, 1971.

CBKST Saskatoon and its transmitter CBKST-11 Greenwater Lake – Technical change
The Commission approves the application by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, the licensee of the television programming undertaking CBKST Saskatoon, to change the authorized contours of its transmitter CBKST-11 Greenwater Lake, by decreasing the average effective radiated power from 9,500 watts to 9,100 watts.
The Commission notes that this change reflects the actual technical parameters following construction of the transmission facilities and that there will be no significant change to the coverage area.
To add two transmitters at the localities noted in the Public Notice to offer the programming of CBLT Toronto, relating to television station CBLT Toronto.
To add a transmitter at Nipawin to offer the programming of CBKST Saskatoon, relating to television stationCBKST Saskatoon.
