		When I originally wrote my review of CDex back in August 2000 (it seemed so long ago), the software's main function was to rip out the CD audio files and convert it to large wave (.wav) files.
		But, the main thing about CDEx is that the program first of all, is free and comes in a zip format and it's a nice little powerful software that's all self contained.
		And, another use of CDex is to convert an mp3 file into ogg vorbis or vice versa, although it's not recommended since both ogg vorbis and mp3 files are "lossy" codec (they discard data in order to compress it).

	EAC +lame vs. CDEX+lame - Topic Ars OpenForum
		cdex works for me, its fast and really easy to use, lots of options, im not familier with the other program but i'd stick with what you know, have and use.
		CDex is what I reccomend to my beginner friends, but EAC is what I use.
		CDEX appears to offer some sort of offset correction, but not the same kind as EAC, and no apparent way to determine it, either.

		Then the actual file got created in 20 minutes, the main problem was Nothing would happen, you could tell it was working but it would spend 30 minutes to check for the peak value with nothing getting completed.
		With CDex 1.40, it would wait about 20 minutes determining peak value and then it would process the file to 85% and stop.
		I tried installing CDex 1.50, but now the conversion stops immediately—nothing is converted.

	Re: cdex and scratches
		Looking over the CDEX manual, it appears the track offset parameter that is the first edit box in the CDEX window should be used for fine tuning track start.
		It is defaulted at zero but can be incremented with each increment equating to a 75th of a second.
		Although this could be used to fine tune where CDEX determines the start of the track, I think it would be quicker to rip and edit later for the number of times you need to do this.
