CEA   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-20)
CEA monitoring showed the best results in patients who developed hepatic metastases (sensitivity 60%, specificity 94%, positive predictive value 60%, and negative predictive value 94%), and was ineffective for the detection of locoregional or pulmonary metastases.
CEA is an optimal marker for detecting distant metastases, in particular liver metastases, since its sensitivity considerably exceeds the sensitivities of the other two monitored markers.
CEA is the most frequent indicator of recurrence in asymptomatic patients and currently is the most cost-effective test for the preclinical detection of resectable disease.

Frequently Asked Questions About Cea Ocean Mineral Superfood
Cea is pure, concentrated ocean water that provides a highly complex source of macro and trace minerals in the form and ratios provided by nature that are readily compatible with the body's requirements.
Cea is concentrated at ambient temperatures through a vast network of shallow ponds using solar evaporation to produce the maiden brine.
Otherwise, Cea's sodium ratio is balanced by the ratios of the other complex macro and trace minerals such as magnesium and potassium, which buffer the effects of sodium in the body.

 CEA Press Release
CEA Secretary Michael Walton and CEA Legislative Committee Chairman Terry Street were two of only a few management representatives invited to participate at the ceremonial signing by Gov. Davis of SB 16 (Burton), requiring state prevailing wages to be based on the modal (most commonly occurring) rates of pay for workers in a given area.
This year, CEA is devoting its attention legislatively to CEA-sponsored Senate Bill 471 (Solis) to provide financial protection for contractors, subcontractors and construction workers in the event of a construction project owner default along with providing advocacy on a host of other legislative proposals sponsored by labor and other groups.
CEA hopes that this career pathway, once fully developed, will serve as a pilot program for other school districts in California to assist in recruiting high school students in pursuing construction and engineering careers in the trades, project management, and design engineering.

 CEA I by C.A. Sharp
As a group, they purchased a full-page ad in the breed magazine admitting they had produced CEA and listing the names of their carrier dogs.
CEA hasn't gone away--I got another pedigree just a couple weeks ago--but there appears to be a lot less of it out there.
I think the knowledge that the disease is recessive and that one can test-breed to clear suspected carriers has resulted in more effective management of the disease by breeders, even though a fair number of them wouldn't ever admit they'd thus managed their way out of it.

Carcinoembryonic Antigen - Cancer information on MedicineNet.com
CEA is a type of protein molecule that can be found in many different cells of the body, but is typically associated with certain tumors and the developing fetus.
When the CEA level is abnormally high before surgery or other treatment, it is expected to fall to normal following successful surgery to remove all of the cancer.
CEA is not an effective screening test for hidden (occult) cancer since early tumors do not cause significant blood elevations.

What is CEA-Scan?   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-20)
The CEA-Scan study is a nuclear medicine procedure — that is, it uses a small dose of radioactive isotope to image tumors sometimes invisible to other diagnostic tests.
That isotope is guided to tumors via antibody fragments engineered to seek out and attach to any tissue that expresses carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), a protein found on virtually all colorectal tumors.
CEA blood tests attempt to detect this same protein in blood, but often fail to do so, due to lack of sensitivity.
