Caussols Plateau Sites Visit, - by Provence Beyond
The Gouffre du Calernaum, located on the upper Plaine de Calern (see below), is a set of underground caves with over 8700 metres of galleries.
The northern side of the Plateau de Caussols is bordered by a long cliff, with a small road that goes up to the plaine de Calern where you'll find the CERGA Observatory.
The area near the observatory looks a bit like a moonscape, with white, domed buildings scattered around the white, rocky terrain.

 [No title]
It included 28 researchers and as many engineers and technicians located on the Observatory sites of Nice, Grasse and Calern.
CERGA was in charge of several observing facilities like the lunar-laser ranging telescope and the two satellite laser stations.
By nature the scientific activity involved the acquisition of data and their processing, a dedicated instrumental development and a close relationship with the more theoretical aspects in dynamics and observation modelling.

CERGA - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Centre de recherches en géodynamique et astrométrie (CERGA) was a scientific department of the Observatoire de la côte d'azur (OCA).
CERGA was dissolved in 2004 when the OCA re-organized.

The results are given in Table 1 with the mean value of the solar radius obtained during the whole period of observation.
2 are plotted the deviations to the mean of the semidiameters as a function of the heliographic inclination expressed as angle from the solar equator, with similar results obtained with the solar astrolabe of the Centre d'Etudes et des Recherches Géodynamiques et Astrometriques (CERGA), France, during the period 1978-1994.
The results of CERGA were obtained also visually and also by a unique observer (Laclare et al.

Measuring the Earth - Moon Distance with a Laser
Is it the distance between Earth and Moon, or between the the CERGA laboratory telescope and the reflector on the Moon?
If we assume that the reflector is a source sending the light in half a sphere, compute what would then be the energy received on Earth by the receiver (surface: s').
At the CERGA site, look for the "aperture" of the light beam sent to the Moon, and the aperture of the reflected beam.

 Lunar Laser Ranging at McDonald
Such an APD detector, already in use at the French CERGA LLR station, has exhibited a significant increase in sensitivity as well as improved accuracy and precision of their lunar data.
CERGA, already a very high volume station for LLR data, is striving with new detector, multi-color, and timing technologies to reach millimeter precision and accuracy levels.
It must be clearly understood that the MLRS and the CERGA stations constitute only a bare minimum network for the best use of the LLR data type.

shooting on the moon   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-16)
The war with the moon has been declared for 20 years on the plate of Calern, to 20 km of Grasse in France, but it is only one peaceful war in which takes part the observatory of CERGA while drawing in the laser on our satellite.
At the time of the Apollo program, the American astronauts deposited mirrors on the lunar ground in forecast of future scientific experiments, intended to know the real distance which separates the star with the earth planet.
The orbit of the moon having an elliptic form, its distance varies from 353 880km up to 421 690km according to whether it is with its apogee or the perigee of its orbit.

On solar radius measurements with Danjon astrolabes   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-16)
The most extended databases obtained with these astrolabes are those of CERGA and probably Santiago.
While the CERGA results show a marginal radius variation in opposing phase with solar magnetic activity, those of Santiago give a significant variation in time, but in phase with solar activity.
According to Chollet and Sinceac (1999) the apparent solar radius variation is identical for all astrolabe measures (except Santiago) and anticorrelated with the magnetic cycle of the Sun.

Such is the case with Cerga, a specific type of woven fabric indigenous to Transylvania and Wallachia.
Around since before the Romans came to Romania, Cerga, or Stroie as it’s known in Transylvania, is a type of fabric, created by a specific finishing process applied to already woven products and is characterized by long, shaggy woolen strands and its durability.

We've found a few real webcams of our favorite parts of Provence and a bit of the rest of France.
Close to home, the camera at the CERGA observatory gives us a live view across the Plateau de Calern, where we frequently start local day-hikes.
The Apt-Luberon webcam is a bit boring, but it's live and you can see the weather and if the lavender is in bloom, and we do appreciate very much having it available.
