CFB Greenwood in the Annapolis Valley is operated by 14 Wing and is home to Maritime Patrol squadrons operating CP-140 Aurora (and CP-140A Arcturus variety) patrol aircraft, and also to a search and rescue/transport squadron operating CC-130 Hercules fixed wing aircraft and the new Cormorant helicopter.
CFB Halifax is primarily the home to Canada's east coast navy and hosts the operational and support fleet.

A fine example of the interest in aviation was on August 13, 1934 when the Mayor and Council of Summerside passed a resolution while airborne to mark the official opening of the new airport (now the Industrial Park) which served until the RCAF constructed the air base in 1941.
Even before the original Summerside airport was constructed, the town was receiving regular Winter Air Service by Canadian Airways Ltd. which provided service on the harbour ice in 1929.

When I was a kid, this huge odd looking airplane flew over my house many times a week en route between CFB Summerside, PEI and CFB Greenwood, NS.
Until its retirement in 1983, it always fascinated me. I spent 2 years gathering information to write a book on it but it never "took off".
