	USGS Forest and Rangeland Ecosystem Science Center: CFER Long-Range Strategic Plan
		Founding cooperators of CFER are the Oregon State Office of the BLM; the U.S. Geological Survey's Biological Resources Division, Forest and Rangeland Ecosystem Science Center; and two colleges at Oregon State University (OSU), the College of Forestry and the College of Agricultural Sciences.
		The CFER program will work closely with resource managers, researchers and decision-makers to develop and convey information needed to successfully implement ecosystem-based management at forest stand and watershed scales, especially on lands dominated by young forests and fragmented by multiple ownership.
		The primary goals of CFER are to provide forest managers with new information to evaluate current and proposed strategies and practices associated with management of forest ecosystems, and to facilitate development of sustainable forest practices.

		The CFER staff is using data from the Family Burden Study in the Epidemiology of Mental Disorders Department at NYSPI to examine the psychological impact on caregivers of persons who are living with severe mental illness, with specific attention to depression, grief and health concerns.

	Canadian Facility for Ecoinformatics Research (CFER) Description
		Counting all CFER workstations, we have >10 terabytes of storage available to us, which is sufficient for all ecoinformatics research that we plan in the next several years, and substantial computational power.
		CFER has a complete array of field equipment, including a LiCOR leaf area index metre (LAI 2000), high resolution digital camera, ASD Spectroradiometer (with short-wave infrared detection capabilities) with a field-portable notebook computer, portable meteorological stations, GPS, field radios with a nominal 11km range, and a variety of utility equipment (never travel without rope!).
		CFER's array of field equipment would be of little use without a way to bring team members and equipment to research sites.
