This revision 12 of the draft CGH2 regulation is based on the former rev 10 and the amended rev 11 that was discussed in the last meeting in Gothenburg.
All amendments in rev 12 were agreed in principle by the Members of the Hydrogen informal group, so there remains no outstanding issue under discussion.
But because rev 12 was finalised and distributed very late prior to this GRPE meeting, there was not enough time for all Members to have a detailed look on this last consolidated draft version.

The facility will support a test fleet of hydrogen-powered vehicles from a number of manufacturers.
In the context of this project, the applied Linde hydrogen technology has been certified for the important Japanese market.
Linde has equipped almost all the liquid hydrogen filling stations presently in existence, and is the leader in the sector of LH2 and CGH2 vehicle fuelling technology up to 700 bar (10,000 psi).

The gaseous hydrogen (CGH2) will be generated directly at the filling station by electrolysis of water, after which it will be compressed to 350bar in a pressurizing unit from Linde; it can then be used in this form (CGH2) to power vehicles from DaimlerChrysler and Ford.
The hydrogen is supplied from a 10,000-litre liquid H2 tank with a downstream vaporizer installed by Linde.
Refuelling capacity of CGH2 within 10 minutes for a passenger vehicle at 350bar and for LH2 within 10 minutes for 140 litres.

With BMW as a partner in the project, this facility is part of the national German strategy of building a hydrogen supply infrastructure, in which ten different car manufacturing and energy firms are involved.
The Berlin station can supply both CGH2 fuel - that's Compressed Gaseous Hydrogen - and LH2 or Liquefied Hydrogen, the latter being favoured in the short term by BMW, because of its higher energy density and the longer range it allows.
BMW, of course, is well ahead with its project to market a dual-fuel 7-Series, with a conventional engine able to run on either petrol or LH2, some time during the current model's production life.

The SP Pressure Vessel examines the fabrication of lightweight compressed gas (CGH2) vessels at 700 bar, which shall meet specifications given by car manufacturers in terms of operating conditions (-40 to +85°C) and energy density or fractional mass of H2 in the tank (6%).
These vessels of type III or IV consist of a metal or polymer liner with appropiate bosses and valve connections, in a fiber reinforced composite structure.
The vessels should also comply with ISO TC197 norms and safety requirements of EIHPII.
