The Industry Standard, one of the magazines that was created to chronicle the rise of the Internet economy, has itself become a victim of the dot-com bust.
Standard Media International, the magazine's San Francisco-based publisher, sent an internal memo to employees yesterday announcing that it was suspending publication and laying off most of its 180 workers.
In the memo, Standard Media said one of the factors leading to the print publication's demise was a significant drop in revenue from the $140 million level it reached last year, as advertising sales dwindled because of the souring economy and the collapse of numerous Web ventures.

By working together, GHX and Neoforma can expedite several factors key to the success of e-commerce in the healthcare industry: 1) adoption of industry standards, 2) implementation of supply chain solutions by a critical mass of hospitals and suppliers, and 3) reduction of the costs associated with redundant or competing solutions.
Both GHX and Neoforma, as industry leaders, believe industry collaboration is critical to minimize duplication and reduce costs across the entire healthcare supply chain.
By creating an integrated supply chain solution, the alliance will enable marketplace participants to adopt a single, as opposed to duplicative, supply chain solution, creating the critical mass necessary to drive real supply chain improvements, such as simpler connectivity, better product and price information and industry standards.

SCOR includes all the metrics that might exist in a supply chain; the formulae associated with the metrics, a reference to best practice vis-a-vis the metrics, and also indicates which technology can contribute to achieving best practice.
