 CIII Toronto
CIII is one of the two commercial TV stations in Toronto (CFTO is the other) that broadcast descriptive video services for the blind on SAP.
CIII went on the air for the first time on January 6, 1974, under the call sign of CKGN-TV (A call sign previously used by CKNY-TV North Bay).
The reasons why CIII was chosen as the station's callsign were to reflect the station's cable channel position in the GTA, and the fact that Global is Canada's third television network—"III" is the Roman numeral for three.
