The Wreckers sang the CMA 1997 Song of the Year - Strawberry Wine - which was originally a hit for Deana Carter.  Their version sounds like something you would hear from them out on radio now.  They stick with what they know (the acoustic/pop flare with country) and this is how their fans know them.

In doing research before pursuing the CMA Awards show's move to New York for a year, Maureen J. Reidy, president of NYC Big Events, said she found that the country show had television ratings on par with shows such as the Oscars and Grammys.
This year, the CMA Awards event will be held outside of Nashville for the first time ever when "The 39th Annual CMA Awards" is broadcast live on CBS from New York City's Madison Square Garden on Tuesday, Nov. 15 (8-11 PM/ET).
A few years ago they and their so-called Muzik Mafia, which included Gretchen Wilson, barnstormed music clubs (including the Beaumont Club in Westport) to perform the music that was deemed too bold and bodacious for Nashville.
