Obituary: Bob Trow, Compatriot of Rege Cordic and 'Mister Rogers'
Baby boomers got ready for school listening to Bob Trow, one of Rege Cordic's comic compatriots on the radio, while their children encountered him one generation and a technological leap later.

  NationMaster - Encyclopedia: CORDIC
The modern CORDIC algorithm was first described in 1959 by Jack E. Volder, although it is similar to techniques published by Henry Briggs as early as 1624.
CORDIC is particularly well-suited for handheld calculators, an application for which cost (and therefore gate count on the chip) is much more important than is speed.
This explanation shows how to use CORDIC in rotation mode to calculate sin and cos of an angle and assumes the wanted angle is given in radians and represented in a fixed point format.

 BASIC Stamp: CORDIC math
The CORDIC method is attractive because it is an integer algorithm close to the hardware.
The CORDIC method depends on the Givens rotation transform, which expresses the coordinates of a point P in two different coordinate systems, rotated by a certain angle about their common origin.
A second trick, or insight, of CORDIC is that the value of cos H does not depend on the direction of rotation.

Obituary: Rege Cordic: Popular Pittsburgh radio announcer in '40s, '50s, '60s
Cordic, the host and ring-leader of the KDKA program and a legend in local radio, died of cancer Friday night in Los Angeles, where he had moved in 1966 to re-create his shtick for the southern California market.
Cordic became well-known for his bit-acting in popular TV shows such as "Gunsmoke" and "Ironside" and for the baritone voice in countless commercials, but in Pittsburgh he will be forever known as a radio "personality" before the industry became saturated with them.
Cordic was president of the bogus Academy of Commercial Arts and Sciences that awarded mythical "Semi-Emmy" statuettes the day after the Academy Awards to honor the best radio commercials of the year.

Cordic was born in the Hazelwood neighborhood of Pittsburgh and attended Central Catholic High School.
One of Cordic's most memorable running gags at both WWSW and KDKA were fake advertisements for "Olde Frothingslosh", "the pale stale ale with the foam on the bottom." The beer was supposedly brewed by Sir Reginald Frothingslosh at Upper Crudney-on-the-Thames.
Cordic accepted the offer in July 1965, but KDKA owner Westinghouse Broadcasting Corporation refused to release Cordic from his contract until it ended in November 1965.

 Warwick: DCS: Reports and Theses
The CORDIC algorithm for the calculation of trigonometric functions has traditionally suffered from two problems; speed, and the necessity to pre-scale the inputs.
Here we show a new CORDIC system which has a unit scale factor that can be ignored.
The unit scale factor is achieved by rotating the vector in 3 dimensional space in a manner which scales its projection onto the X-Y plane by the reciprocal of the overall scale factor.

CORDIC error analysis I'll try to explain briefly my results in the field of CORDIC and CORDIC-like algorithms error analysis.

For CORDIC algorithms shiftings are executing from 1 bit to n bits.
