CPLEX - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It was originally developed by Robert E. Bixby and sold via CPLEX Optimization Inc., which was acquired by ILOG, Inc. in 1997.
CPLEX solves Integer programming and very large Linear programming problems and has recently added Quadratic programming.
In 2004, the work on CPLEX earned the first INFORMS Impact Award.

 GAMS/Cplex 7.5 User Notes
Cplex is designed to solve the majority of LP problems using default option settings.
Cplex performs an operation called refactorization at a frequency determined by the reinv option setting.
The Cplex option advind can be used to ignore a basis passed on by GAMS (it overrides Bratio).

GRIDtoday: ILOG Launches New CPLEX 9.0 With Support For .NET
ILOG CPLEX 9.0 also includes additional ease of use and performance enhancements, including constraint modeling capabilities that enable linear and logical constraints to be combined in complex applications, enabling the user to develop decision support systems faster by providing a more natural way of describing their model.
ILOG CPLEX users, numbering in the thousands worldwide, recognize the product for pioneering the industry's fastest and most robust math-programming based optimizers, which are used to solve complex, real-world optimization challenges in industries including manufacturing, transportation, defense and finance.
CPLEX 9.0 is more than 40 percent faster than the previous version, already the fastest and most robust optimization engine on the market.

 AIMMS - CPLEX Solver Information
CPLEX 11.0 extends the functionality of the parallel MIP optimizer to include two modes of operation.
Indicators are new constraint types that enable the user to express particular modeling constructs among variables by identifying a binary variable to control whether or not a specified linear constraint is active.
By selecting the more efficient of the two search strategies, CPLEX 11.0 improves the time to optimality by 15% on average for models solved in less than one minute; and it solves models in the range of one minute to one hour an average of three times faster.

This new Cplex parameter determines whether a switch of algorithms will be made when undoing perturbations and/or shifts that may occur during execution of the primal or dual simplex algorithms.
This new Cplex parameter is used to determine which crossover method to use at the end of a barrier run.
This new Cplex parameter determines whether or not mixed integer rounding cuts should be generated for the problem.

 CPLEX Callable Library FAQ
The improvements in CPLEX and the computers on which it run have enabled operations research practitioners to solve problems once considered intractable on relatively inexpensive personal computers.
CPLEX 6.5 was built for Linux using the 2.0 kernel and Red Hat Linux 5.1.
CPLEX has solved MIPs with hundreds of thousands of variables and constraints in a matter of minutes and only a modest amount of additional memory beyond that used to solve the initial LP relaxation.

 [No title]
The solver "cplex" uses CPLEX (a trademark of ILOG) to solve integer, mixed-integer, linear programming, and quadratic problems, including (with version 9) problems with quadratic constraints possibly involving integer variables.
Normally cplex is invoked by AMPL's solve command, which gives the invocation cplex stub -AMPL in which stub.nl is an AMPL generic output file (possibly written by "ampl -obstub" or "ampl -ogstub").
When CPLEX has a choice of which integer variable to bound (or fix) during its branch-and-bound algorithm, it chooses a variable with the highest priority.

ILOG CPLEX: High-performance software for mathematical programming and optimization
CPLEX combines multiple CPUs to divide the work at hand -- that's what we mean when we say Parallel CPLEX.
ILOG CPLEX gives developers a variety of different ways to interact with it during the development and deployment of their applications.
CPLEX can be accessed from most programming environments and used on a wide variety of platforms, providing true portability.

 CPLEX Component Libraries
CPLEX Callable Library provides a C programming language interface, allowing all features to be accessed from multiple programming languages.
CPLEX Callable Library users can describe a problem by providing the entire constraint matrix using a sparse matrix representation, or can build a problem up in parts by adding the constraints and variables that describe a problem.
With CPLEX Mixed Integer Optimizer, users can adjust branch-and-bound strategy parameters (such as branching direction, node selection and variable arbitration) as well as setting tolerances, duration limits, cutoffs and priorities.
