Introduction to Class Responsibility Collaborator (CRC) Models
Although CRC cards were originally introduced as a technique for teaching object-oriented concepts, they have also been successfully used as a full-fledged modeling technique.
The best way to do this is to create a CRC model for a single requirement, such as a user story, business rule, or system use case, instead of the entire collection of requirements for your system.
Because CRC cards are very simple tools they are inclusive, enabling you to follow AM's Active Stakeholder Participation practice.

Cyclic redundancy check - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A cyclic redundancy check (CRC) is a type of hash function used to produce a checksum - which is a small number of bits - against a byte or a larger block of data, such as a packet of network traffic or a block of a computer file.
CRCs are popular because they are simple to implement in binary hardware, are easy to analyze mathematically, and are particularly good at detecting common errors caused by noise in transmission channels.
CRCs are often referred to as "checksums," but such designations are not strictly accurate since, technically, a checksum is calculated through addition and not through division as is the case with CRCs.

 File Verification Using CRC
CRC calculations are done using a technique with the formidable name of "polynomial division".
In the case where we are calculating the CRC of an entire file, the exponents will be very large, but this is not a problem.
The calculation of the CRC is done by dividing a second polynomial, known as the "generator polynomial" in to the message polynomial, producing a quotient and a remainder.

A Laboratory For Teaching Object-Oriented Thinking
One of the contexts in which we have used CRC cards is a three-hour class entitled "Thinking with Objects," which is intended for computing professionals who have programmed, but whose jobs do not necessarily involve programming every day.
CRC cards give the learner who has never encountered objects a physical understanding of object-ness, and prepares them to understand the vocabulary and details of particular languages.
CRC cards also give useful and convincing experience with objects to those who has learned the mechanisms of objects but do not yet see their value.

 CRC primer by Ross Williams
The CRC algorithms to be described satisfy the second condition very well, and can be configured to operate with a variety of checksum widths.
The basic idea of CRC algorithms is simply to treat the message as an enormous binary number, to divide it by another fixed binary number, and to make the remainder from this division the checksum.
A given CRC algorithm will be said to be using a particular polynomial, and CRC algorithms in general are said to be operating using polynomial arithmetic.

 The Great CRC Mystery
The CRC algorithm operates on a block of data as a unit [1].
A well-constructed CRC polynomial over limited-size data blocks will detect any contiguous burst of errors shorter than the polynomial, any odd number of errors throughout the block, any 2 bit errors anywhere in the block, and most other cases of any possible errors anywhere in the data [2].
When the CRC is appended to the end of the data (thus eliminating the need to detect it as a separate field), and if bit-level CRC hardware is also to be supported, CRC software may need to use data in reverse bit order.

 Coastal CRC
When the Coastal CRC was established in 1999, its motto was ‘Bridging the Gaps’.
The ‘gaps’ were then understood primarily as deficiencies in the way the knowledge necessary to manage this shifting, often fragile environment is applied across multiple layers of government.
The CRC has achieved a great deal in its all-too-short life, and I believe its demise will create a gap in this most important and diverse study area that will be exceedingly difficult to fill, writes Coastal CRC Board member Dr Roy Green.
