 Baffins
A bay, more commonly known as Baffin Bay, on the southern coast of Texas, emptying into the Laguna Madre that follows the Gulf shore between Corpus Christi and the mouth of the Rio Grande and separates Padre Island from the Texas mainland.
Baffins on 23 August 1942; launched on 18 October 1942; sponsored by Mrs.
Baffins was declared "not essential to the defense of the U.S." on 11 February 1946, and her name was struck from the Naval Vessel Register on 20 March 1946.

 H.M.S. AMEER
From the end of July 1944 Ameer joined sister CVE H.M.S. Battler on trade protection duties in the Indian Ocean, embarking 845 squadron's 12 Avengers and 4 Wildcat Vs on the 26th from RNAS Katukurunda.
This was an intense flying period for the two CVEs, over a 3 day period, Hellcats from both carriers flew over 150 sorties and destroyed more than 30 Japanese aircraft on the ground, together with trains and road transport.
HMS Ameer was to form part of the force of six CVEs sent to reoccupy Singapore, Ameer, Emperor, Empress, Hunter, Khedive, and Stalker.

On 15 July 1943 all were redesignated escort aircraft carriers, CVE.

7 May 1959 - The classification of 36 escort carriers, designated CVE, CVU, and CVHE, was changed to AKV, Cargo Ship and Aircraft Ferry.
The change was accompanied by a change in hull numbers and marked the end of the escort carrier as a combatant ship in the U.S. Navy.

 U.S. Navy Escort Aircraft Carrier Statistics
This type ship was initially designated as Auxiliary Aircraft Escort vessels (AVG) on 31 March 1941.
The designation was changed to Auxiliary Aircraft Carrier (ACV) on 20 August 1942 and on 15 July 1943 all were re-designated Escort Aircraft Carriers (CVE).
References do not agree on UK lend lease by class or numbers.
