 Fleas
The Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CyBC) this week made international headlines for all the wrong reasons when parts of its regular radio transmission were halted to control a flea infestation.
The problem - which is reported to have made CyBC staff ill - has been traced back to the many stray cats living in and outside the CyBC building.
CyBC employees, meanwhile, have complained of trapped cats damaging their property while others have alleged that the flea problem had been exaggerated and that the fumigation had been carried out as an excuse to get rid of the cats.

The desperate act comes in a time when CyBC is about to discuss the plans for the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest.
In case the rumour is true, then they still forget that EBU rules allow to each national broadcaster to select on its own way the Eurovision entry, either by national or internal selection.
CyBC in my opinion handles the case properly, and if they decide to take the risk of internal selection AT LEAST we have to respect it.

It is at least offensive to attribute an undignified attitude with ulterior motives to people employed in the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CyBC) who are entitled to claim the positions announced hastily by Mr Drakos and other DISY members in the CyBC.
For the time being, every CyBC employee and every informed citizen about the situation in the state radio-TV station is in a position to judge only the actions of the former executive council under Mr Drakos.
As for the last (but one) action of his presidency at the CyBC, it was none other than the unprecedented incident of announcing a position and all parties entitled to it having to submit all necessary documents in 24 hours.
