Contemporary automata are represented by the works of Cabaret Mechanical Theatre in the United Kingdom and Dug North in the United States.

London’s Cabaret Mechanical Theatre is one of the most amazing places I’ve ever been.
Filled with beautiful and often humorous mechanical sculptures (some would call them toys, but in this case the line between art and toy is so fine…), it’s well worth a visit when they reopen.
If I had $900 just lying around, I’d be very tempted to commission one of their gorgeous dragons.
