		Cabell County is a county located in the state of West Virginia.
		The county is bounded in the northeast by Mason County, West Virginia, in the east by Putnam County, West Virginia, in the southeast by Lincoln County, West Virginia, in the southwest by Wayne County, West Virginia, in the west by Lawrence County, Ohio and in the north by Gallia County, Ohio.
		In the county, the population is spread out with 20.00% under the age of 18, 13.50% from 18 to 24, 26.80% from 25 to 44, 23.60% from 45 to 64, and 16.00% who are 65 years of age or older.

		The county was named in honor of Daniel Boone (1734-1820), the famous hunter and explorer, founder of Kentucky, Lieutenant Colonel of the Virginia militia, and member of the Virginia General Assembly representing Kanawha County (in 1791).
		Brooke County was named in honor of Robert Brooke (1751-1799), who was educated at the University of Edinburgh, practiced law in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, served in the Virginia General Assembly in 1794 and, later that year, was elected the third Governor of Virginia (1794-1796) by the General Assembly.

		Huntington (HNN) – Seventeen state senators, including Sen. Evan Jenkins (Cabell) and Sen. Robert Plymale (Wayne) have introduced a bill in the state senate March 21, 2005 that would extend property tax exemptions to non-profit nursing home communities similar to the one at the Woodlands.
		The amendment, which defines "a continuing care retirement facility" as one in which service and housing packages such as "independent living, assisted living, or skilled nursing are provided to its elderly residents in exchange for the payment of an entrance fee or deposit, or payment of periodic charges or both."
		However, Cabell County Assessor Ottie Adkins opposes the amendment, stating that it appeals to special interests and would increase the number of exempt properties in the county.
