 | | Singapore, Singapore, Aug. 16 (UPI) -- Singapore's new prime minister, Lee Hsien Loong, Sunday assigned roles to members of his Cabinet, which includes some veteran political talent. |
 | | He said his father, Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew, would no longer be involved in day-to-day running of the government, or even in setting directions for Singapore, but would remain in the Cabinet to keep current with younger ministers' thinking and with developments at home and abroad. |
 | | Deputy Prime Minister S. Jayakumar, who is also minister for law, would chair a Cabinet committee on foreign policy matters that cut across different ministries and remain in charge of foreign policy issues involving legal negotiations or international adjudication. |
