	THE CINEMA LASER DVD REVIEW-- CADDYSHACK
		CADDYSHACK is set inside a country club where you don’t have to be insane to be a member, but it certainly helps.
		Even though the movie is called CADDYSHACK and is supposed to be about the caddies at the country club, those characters are pretty much forced into the background by the film’s four great comic performances.
		CADDYSHACK was made in 1980 and it looks like a relatively low budget comedy from two decades ago.

	Caddyshack Movie Review at Hollywood Video
		While I personally don't think Caddyshack belongs in quite the same league as other comedies of its vintage (Animal House, Meatballs, Stripes and Ghostbusters being the high-ranking members of the pantheon), the new DVD edition is certainly a little piece of heaven for its most exuberant admirers.
		In the case of Caddyshack, the "them" are the wealthy establishment-types who wield the real power at Bushwood Country Club; the "us" are the various caddies (Michael O'Keefe), groundskeepers (Bill Murray), and wealthy iconoclasts (Chase and Dangerfield) ready to upend the club's social order.
		Whether or not Caddyshack lives up to Ramis' claim that the film is "like a bottle of wine" is left to the future generations who have no nostalgia for watching the film as a teenagers in the 1980s.

		His dry delivery of some of the most incomprehensible lines in film history is probably a major reason he has been able to make comedies long after he stopped being funny.
		Close behind, and probably the single greatest element of CADDYSHACK, is Bill Murray as Carl Spackler, the slovenly assistant groundskeeper who not only invented grass you could play golf on but get stoned off of, too.
		CADDYSHACK was previously released on DVD by Warner in the summer of 1997 in a fairly underappreciative package.

		More than anything, 'Caddyshack' is subversive, slyly undercutting bourgeois values and the snooty status quo, and championing the glories of slobbery, mediocrity and comic excess.
		Certainly, 'Caddyshack' never exhibits the eye-popping, three-dimensional quality of a modern transfer, but I was impressed with the overall quality of this presentation.
		Extras on the 1999 special edition DVD for 'Caddyshack' were pretty slim, with the only real extra being a then-new 31-minute documentary called "'Caddyshack': The 19th Hole." Warner has ported it over for the HD DVD, and it still holds up as a fun little retrospective.

		Though I'd heard for years about CADDYSHACK and how funny it was, I was never very interested in actually seeing it.
		I was too young when it was originally released in the theater and I kind of thought it was beneath my quality film viewing standards.
		CADDYSHACK is a classic 80's comedy with all the accoutrements: drinking, drugs, class wars, teen age sex, bare breasts (before the invention of silicon) and mass destruction – qualities you never see anymore in these politically correct times.
