		Cadillac Mountain, at 1530 feet, is the highest point on Mount Desert Island.
		Though Cadillac is the highest mountain on the island, I chose the North Face Trail as our first hike because it is a gradual climb with few steep spots.
		Having 'conquered' the highest mountain on the island was a confidence builder for the students, though they could have no idea that steeper climbs awaited them.

		Cadillac is actually low enough and the view clear enough that one loses the sense that one is 1,532 feet above sea level.
