Topic: Caesar (Planet of the Apes)

Battle For The Planet Of The Apes (1973)
Normally I had viewed to all the Ape movies at the local Central Drive-in, but we were visiting out of town relatives and my cousin had never seen the Ape movies, so he took me and my brother to their local theater to see what would be the last of the Ape saga.
On the ape planet, as we've seen before, the gorillas are the more aggressive of all the apes, and are assigned the role of soldier.
In the planet of the apes this is a no-no. The apes battled the humans to free themselves from their enslavement, and hearing this command barked at him enrages Aldo, and he uses this incident to attack Caesar's alliance with the brutish insensitive humans.

TechnoFILE Reviews the "Planet of the Apes" original series on DVD
Apes being capable of so much more than just scratching the furniture or leaving messes on the carpet, however, they're quickly trained to be a race of slave workers.
Caesar (McDowall), who has always been treated well in his sheltered existence in Armando's (Ricardo Montalban) circus, revolts at the mistreatment of his race, eventually freeing the slaves and beginning the revolution that will see apes replace men as the dominant life form on planet Earth.
Fortunately for the apes, and the "non-mutant" humans, the apes prevail and a new age is begun in which ape and human live side by side as equals, which ties things up in a nice and politically correct way.

Planet of the Apes Caesar action figure - Another Toy Review by Michael Crawford, Captain Toy
Caesar, who lead his fellow apes out of slavery and onto the top of the power chain, is one of the most important ape characters in the entire Planet of the Apes history.
Caesar's "slave" outfit that comes with the figure is the one he wore during most of the movie after being separated from Armando.
Caesar used the posters for a few minutes near the beginning of the film, and the rifle toward the end, but Sideshow gave us these and some meat cleavers, so I'm very happy that they went the extra mile with the cleavers and did an excellent job with them.

Fortunately, the pessimistic prognosis of the studio execs never came to be, and instead, "Planet of the Apes" went on to become an audience favorite that year.
It is here that the "Planet of the Apes" makes its earth-shattering and sobering revelation-- Taylor finds the upper half of the Statue of Liberty on a deserted beach, proof that he had returned to Earth and the 'upside-down' world he found was a result of man's own folly.
All in all, "Planet of the Apes" was a cinematic statement of the times, reflecting the climate of instability and discord of the late Sixties.

Following the ape revolt of Conquest, Caesar (Roddy McDowall) takes on the role of peacekeeper between the humans and the apes — but finds himself forced into a battle of wits with a militarist gorilla (the prolific Claude Akins, immortalized in the Twilight Zone classic "The Monsters are Due on Maple Street").

Stomp Tokyo Video Reviews - Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (1972)
The next-to-last film in the Planet of the Apes series is the most politically charged; its obvious parallels to the civil rights struggle that continued through the 1970's were tolerated by Hollywood censors because of the fantastic story line.
There is no mistaking, however, the similarities of Caesar, the initially peaceful leader of a bloody revolt, to members of the Black civil rights movement who became more militant as their non-violent efforts were met with derision and gunshots.
In Escape From the Planet of the Apes, chimps Cornelius, Zira, and Milo are the gentle, civilized victims of irrational human fear.
