Cairn Gorm's primary factor towards the higher Ben Macdui is 146m.

We emerged through the cloud line into glorious sunshine, the triangular point of Cairn Toul - topping out at over 4000 feet - poised like a volcanic island in the sea of white across the coire, wavy wisps nibbling at its perfectly straight slopes.
With all but the final few metres of height in the bag, the climb on to Braeriach was remarkably relaxing but once there we fell back in the clutches of the demon mist which denied us a stomach-churning peek into the cliff-lined cauldron of Coire Bhrochain below.
The walking is straight forward enough in good weather, but care is needed in the mist due to sheer drops into coires on the east side and in winter snow ice-axes and crampons are a necessity.

One of the most spectacular high-level footpaths runs from the mountain peaks - accessible all the year round by chairlift - via Cairn Gorm to Glenmore Lodge (6.5mi/10.4km from Aviemore).
Cairn Gorm has lent its name to the whole region but, at 4,084ft/1,245m, it is only the fourth-highest peak after Ben Macdui, Braeriach (4,248ft/1,295m) and Cairn Toul (4,241ft/1,293m).

First of all, the bearing of Galdhøpiggen from Cairn Gorm is 481/2° true.
Digging out my Viewfinder for Cairn Gorm, and making due allowance for the difference between grid and true north, I find that the Jotunheim should swim into view in the notch between Knock Hill and Corryhabbie Hill.
The whole view is about 80km across, which would subtend around 51/2° when seen from Cairn Gorm - the width of three fingers at arm's length.

The Mountaineering Council of Scotland (MCofS) objects to the proposal to amend the planning consent associated with the access road on Cairn Gorm.

Claims were repeatedly made by the Company and HIE that the railway and or skiing on Cairn Gorm 'underpins' over 2000 jobs in the area but the actual employment directly arising from the development has been a fraction of that.
No serious financial or economic evidence has ever been produced to prove that the 2000 'underpinned' jobs would be lost if the development did not proceed.
