Blessed Are the Warmakers? by Christopher Manion
Thomas, normally a sensible man writing from an evangelical Christian point of view, has just announced that the biblical "Time for War" is at hand.
Thomas has, for this occasion, set aside the pursuit of the summum bonum, the traditional goal of a thoughtful, spiritual life within western civilization, and replaced it with the pursuit of the elimination of a summum malum, which (for the moment) is Saddam.
Thomas is busily cheering the death of rational discourse.

Thomas disdains socialized medicine (claiming, absolutely incorrectly, that the U. has the best health care in the world), environmentalists, people who are upset by the fact that the U. is guilty of torturing prisoners of war, and (apparently) the head start program.
Thomas quotes lines from the Koran that support murder and war in the name of religion with such self-righteous relish that one would suppose that one could not find similar justifications of evil in the Bible.
If Cal Thomas expects to be taken seriously as an intellectual by people who have not bought into his dogma, he needs to be more careful that what he writes is coherent and factual.

THOMAS: If same-sex marriage is allowed, it is going to be nearly impossible to prohibit the sanctioning of any other kind of human “relationship”—from close relatives of different sexes who wish to marry (that has been outlawed because of biological and incest considerations) and polygamists to adult-child “marriage.”
Thomas seems to have no experience of moral judgment aside from what he reads in the Book.
Somehow, Thomas believes that accepting Scripture creates a “standard for objective truth, law, wisdom, justice”—creates a world in which judgments are made, not on the basis of “your feelings on the subject,” but on the basis of an “unchanging,” “objective” standard.

What I like about Cal’s column here is his emphasis on Christians and conservatives going out and actually making films to suit their worldview, rather than just endlessly (and passively) criticizing Hollywood.
Thomas apparently has, that Christian film can only be subtle and suggestive, what the utilitarians would call pre-evangelism, something to make people think about spiritual things and perhaps move further on their own.
Cal Thomas is right: The arrival of a big-studio production of the first of Lewis’ Narnia tales means Christian-themed films have come a long way from the church basement.

These peace activists also believe that "peace is a by-product"-- that it will come "because evil has been vanquished." They happen to believe that it was vanquished because Jesus was unwilling to be talked out of the Cross by well-intentioned but misguided Peter who figured another dead peace activist would be just another tragedy.
As I recall, Jesus teaches "Blessed are the Peacemakers." Now if we are to take Thomas' logic is Jesus teaching blessed are those who understand that peace comes as a byproduct of force.
It seems to me that Thomas' notion that peace not being able to exist without the existance of force and violence is a misreading of the New Testament.
