		Lanao del Sur is a province of the Philippines located in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).
		Its capital is Marawi City and borders Lanao del Norte to the north, Bukidnon to the east, and Maguindanao and Cotabato to the south.
		Found in the interior of Lanao del Sur is Lanao Lake, the largest lake in Mindanao, where the Maria Cristina Falls, the largest waterfall in the country is located.

		MARAWI CITY -- Five municipalities in the province of Lanao del Sur were declared a failure of elections after Board of Election Inspectors (BEI) did not appear in polling precincts Monday while reports of flying voters were also rampant.
		While in the town of Calanogas, voting was temporarily suspended and later declared a failure after the BEIs did not appear in the polling precincts, Col. Ernesto Boac, commanding officer of the Army's 401st Infantry Brigade based here said.
		As this develop, 59 barangays in seven other towns in Lanao del Sur were also declared a failure in election due to similar reasons.

		Returns from Lanao del Sur under question showed that Barbers was able to shave the lead of Biazon from 39,743 votes (based on the last Commission on Elections canvass last week) to 6,478, according to reports reaching the Comelec Tuesday.
		The poll body is scheduled to resume the tally of votes from Cotabato City and Lanao del Sur at 10:30 a.m.
		Instead of tallying the votes from the returns that supposedly came from 200 precincts in seven municipalities in Lanao del Sur, the Comelec decided to postpone the count pending verification of the documents contained in the supplemental certificate of canvass (COC).

	Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro - Namfrel exec: No poll fraud in Lanao
		ANOTHER top official of the National Movement for Free Elections (Namfrel)-Lanao del Sur admitted that 33 percent of the election returns in their area went "unaccounted" during the 2004 Presidential Elections.
		In a press conference, Namfrel-Lanao Sur secretary general Ibra Macapanton said there were 1,256 precincts but the number of precincts that were counted were only 841 election returns from these precincts.
		When asked as to whether he believes that Namfrel-Lanao del Sur has failed in its duty to safeguard the people's votes, Macapanton replied that they did their best under the circumstances.

		As this developed, thousands of followers of Armm gubernatorial candidate Mahid Mutilan were scheduled to stage a massive rally Wednesday here and in Lanao del Sur, Tawi-Tawi, Jolo and Basilan, to stop the Commission on Election (Comelec) from bringing the election results to Cotabato City and hold the proclamation of winners.

	Voters' registration in 5 Lanao Sur towns extended - Nov. 04, 2003
		THE COMMISSION on Elections has extended the registration of voters in five towns in Lanao del Sur province, the Comelec spokesman said Tuesday.
		Lawyer Ferdinand Rafanan said the commission issued Resolution 6399 extending until November 5 the registration of voters in the municipalities of Buadiposo-Bontong, Binidayan, Calanogas, Marogong, and Sultan Gumander.
		Rafanan said the new resolution was a reiteration of Resolution No. 6387 dated October 28, 2003, which orders various election officials to designate registration centers in Marawi City.
