Calcium supplements are made from inorganic forms of calcium, which tend to increase alkalinity.
Calcium carbonate, for example, is often used as a calcium supplement and antacid.
Inorganic calcium derivatives such as calcium carbonate, calcium benzoate, calcium citrate, and calcium chloride are used as dietary supplements, antacids, food additives and preservatives.

Calcium is one of the first elements in the body to go out of balance when the diet is inadequate.
Calcium levels in the body must be balanced with the proper form, diet, and combination of magnesium.
Calcium promotes alertness and mental clarity for both children and adults.* Calcium along with magnesium and chromium plays an integral role to help neurotransmitters to function properly.* In addition, scientific studies suggest a link between a large consumption of refined sugar and behavior.

The effects of calcium benzoate in diets with or without organic acids on dietary buffering capacity, apparent digestibility, retention of nutrients, and manure characteristics in swine
ABSTRACT Eight barrows (Yorkshire × [Finnish Landrace × Dutch Landrace]), initially 30 kg BW, were fitted with ileal cannulas to evaluate the effects of supplementing Ca benzoate (2.4%) and organic acids (OA) in the amount of 300 mEq acid/kg feed on dietary buffering capacity (BC), apparent digestibility and retention of nutrients, and manure characteristics.
In conclusion, dietary OA have a beneficial effect on the apparent ileal/total tract nutrient digestibilities, and Ca benzoate increased urine acidity, which could be effective against a rapid ammonia emmission from manure of swine.

Answer: Food additives most frequently implicated in adverse reactions are the yellow colouring tartrazine (102), benzoates (210, 211, 212, 213), monosodium glutamate (621) and the sulphites (220, 221, 222, 223, 224, 225, 228).
Nevertheless, some studies have demonstrated that, for a small number of children, some artificial colours are associated with abnormal behaviour.
