Caldwell County is a member of the regional Western Piedmont Council of Governments.
In the county the population is spread out with 23.40% under the age of 18, 7.80% from 18 to 24, 30.50% from 25 to 44, 25.10% from 45 to 64, and 13.30% who are 65 years of age or older.
