Rhythm Method - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Rhythm Method, also known as the Calendar Method or the Knaus-Ogino Method (named after Hermann Knaus and Kyusaku Ogino), is a method of natural birth control that involves counting days of a woman's menstrual cycle in order to achieve or avoid pregnancy.
The phrase "the rhythm method" may also be incorrectly used to describe the practice of observational fertility awareness (FA) methods.
For several decades, the Rhythm Method was promoted by members of the Catholic Church as the only morally acceptable form of family planning.

Fertility awareness - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Although the physical methods used in this branch of NFP and the methods used in FA are identical, natural family planning as practiced by Catholics involves additional behavior restrictions defined by their religious beliefs.
These methods are not FA, but because they also do not involve devices or chemicals, they are often presented alongside FA as a method of birth control.
Actual effectiveness is the proportion of couples who intended that method as their sole form of birth control and do not become pregnant; it includes couples who sometimes use the method incorrectly, or sometimes not at all.

An electronic calendaring method for use in a data processing system which includes a plurality of interactive terminals which are interconnected to permit an end user at each terminal to interchange information with each other and to maintain an electronic calendar.
The method facilitates the reply process to an electronic invitation to attend a meeting that is issued by one of the end users by arranging for the system to advise the invitee that a meeting notice is available to review in the "In Box" of the terminal.
Assume that the end user calendar owner is working on a particular project at his terminal when he is notified by a message on his screen that he has just received an electronic invitation to an event being calendared by another user on the system that is to occur three weeks in the future.

 Fertility Awareness
For fertility awareness to be an effective method of contraception, you must abstain from sex or use a barrier method of contraception (such as a diaphragm or condom) for 8 to 16 days of every menstrual cycle.
Therefore, use of the calendar method alone is not recommended as a method of birth control.
The calendar method of birth control is not very precise, especially for women who have unusually short, long, or irregular menstrual cycles.

Similarly for a Hebrew calendar, for some years the actual maximum for MONTH is 12, and for others 13.

The "Federal" calendar is the method described in U.S. Federal Reserve Regulation Z to measure the first period for the actuarial method of computing the Annual Percentage Rate.
However the Federal calendar's intended purpose was to be used to calculate the A.P.R. by the Actuarial method, and not as a method to charge interest.

History of the Calendar — Infoplease.com
The purpose of the calendar is to reckon past or future time, to show how many days until a certain event takes place—the harvest or a religious festival—or how long since something important happened.
Most of the oldest calendars were lunar calendars, based on the time interval from one new moon to the next—a so-called lunation.
This same calendar was also used by the Arabs, but Muhammad later forbade shifting from 12 months to 13 months, so that the Islamic calendar now has a lunar year of about 354 days.

The calendar method, a way of mathematically calculating your fertile days based on your longest and shortest menstrual cycles, is no longer recommended as a method of contraception because it is highly unreliable.
The most reliable method of natural family planning is the symptothermal method (also called the mucothermal method).
To increase the effectiveness of this method, avoid having sex or use another method of birth control during the first half of your menstrual cycle until your basal body temperature has risen and remained up for 3 days.
