Henry Bird Calfee was a native of Arkansas and was born January 3, 1848.
Calfee first settled in Bozeman, but by 1885 he was living in Missoula where he remained the rest of his life.
Calfee numbered the images in the first two groups, and the stereographs appear to have retained the same numbers in both with the exception of numbers 66 and 76.

alfee was very interested in the park's geysers, apparently more for their photographic potential than because he was a budding "geyser gazer" (person with a passion for geysers).
These were printed with the squib "Calfee and Catlin" on them and were part of their series known as "Views of the Wonderland or Yellowstone Park." The numbers in this series reach at least to 148.
Calfee's Brown Mount series, appears to be identical to the green.

Calfee's images depict scenes of early visitor activity, geysers, hot springs, and fascinating geological features that have changed dramatically or are no longer in existence in the park's constantly shifting landscape.
