Calgary is in many ways Alberta’s test tube for evaluating the impact of the longevity gap, given the fact that over one in five Calgarians moved to the city within the past 5 years.
Calgary Buffalo: This seat was retained by Harvey Cenaiko for the PC’s primarily because of the strength of his campaign team, in contrast to Liberal Terry Taylor who had a minimal campaign organization as the election got underway.

Notes on Canadian References in Starship Troopers
Calgary could be described as "on the northern prairies", though Currie barracks is pretty much in the city, it wouldn't be on a desolate plain.
CFB Calgary was split into two parts, one of which was known as Currie Barracks (the other was Harvey Barracks).
The note that "I never did find out who Currie was, but he must have been a trackman." may have been a joke, because Currie is universally described as "pear-shaped".

Definition of Alberta general election, 2004
One urbanized division outside Calgary and Edmonton was added, and two rural seats were eliminated.
This result was achieved due to a resurgence of the party in Edmonton, where the Tories won a majority of seats for the first time since 1982.
Interestingly, the pollsters only prompted for the three "major" parties yet Green and Seperation showed up over 1% in the results while the Alliance, which is contesting every riding and holds a seat in the legislature, did not.

Calgary Sun Columnist - Paul Jackson: Taylor-made
Newly-elected MLAs Dave Taylor (Calgary Currie), David Swann (Calgary Mountain View) and Harry Chase (Calgary Varsity) had ventured through the doors of the Sun, a noble institution by any measure, but an establishment in which it would be hard to find anyone who within the past 10 years has voted Liberal, either federally or provincially.
