On June 21, the Calgary Health Region will open the South Calgary Health Centre at the corner of Mc l eod Trail and Sun Valley Blvd. The innovative new facility will provide residents of the cities rapidly growing south with access to a wide range of integrated community health services in one location.
“This facility is part of our larger overall long-term capital plan to improve the Calgary Health Region’s access for the citizens of the Region to the health care services that we provide, “ says Bob Holmes, Senior Vice President of Strategic Services for the Calgary Health Region.
That plan include the Okotoks Health and Wellness Centre, scheduled to open this fall, the Sheldon M. Chumir Centre, which is in the early stages of planning and will be housed in the former Colonel Belcher hospital, and the North Calgary Health Centre, which is not yet in the planning stage.

On March 4, 2003 HBDC sponsored a Regional Tourism Development Forum, bringing together tourism operators, community representatives and resource people to discuss opportunities to develop regional partnerships to enhance tourism throughout the region
HBDC continues to work in conjunction with all other Community Economic Development organizations, local, regional, provincial and federal, throughout the region.
