Calgary East is a federal electoral district represented in the Canadian House of Commons.
It was re-created in 1976 from parts of Calgary North, Calgary South and Palliser ridings.
It was again abolished in 1987 when it was redistributed between Calgary Centre, Calgary Northeast, Calgary Southeast, Crowfoot and Calgary Southwest ridings.

Janet (Jan) Corinne Brown (born June 22, 1947 in Nanaimo, British Columbia) is a former Canadian politician.
She was first elected as a Member of Parliament under the Reform Party of Canada ticket in the Alberta riding of Calgary Southeast in the 1993 federal election.
In the 1997 election, she ran as a Progressive Conservative, moving to contest the adjacent riding of Calgary Southwest, then held by Reform leader Preston Manning.

A "genetic termination" is a form of late-term abortion in which babies suspected of having a lethal or serious genetic problem are subjected to early induction of labour, with the hope that they will die before actually being born.
The article said that there were at least 11 cases of survivor babies being left to die and, after public pressure, the police investigated to see whether or not the hospital had committed any crimes.
On May 4, Reform MP Jason Kenney (Calgary Southeast) sent a letter to Calgary Police Services asking that they investigate the "allegations of eugenic infanticide" at Calgary Foothills Hospital.

In northwest Calgary, we retrofitted approximately 11,000 street light fixtures between March and November 2002 as part of the EnviroSmart Streetlights Retrofit Project.
The southeast retrofit of approximately 10,000 fixtures will be carried out between September 2003 and December, 2003 and between April and July, 2004.
