	California State Route 49 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		State Route 49 is a California State Highway that travels in a North-South direction, passing through many historic mining communities of the 1849 California gold rush.
		Robinson's Ferry (California Historical Landmark #276, postmile CAL 0.6), a ferry across the Stanislaus River established in 1848.
		Route 49 is part of the Freeway and Expressway System, as stated by section 253.4 of the California State Highway Code.

		California 49 is still in the same basin at it enters Loyalton, the only town along northbound between Sierraville and Vinton.
		Built in 1973, this bridge was intended to provide a new route for California 49 that would avoid the low-lying areas at the base of the canyon and thus straighten out the route as well as reducing its risk for spring flooding and avoid the once-proposed but never-constructed Auburn Dam.
