The roots of American admiralty law are traced from the early Mediterranean Sea States, the Law Merchants, to the English admiralty courts and ultimately to the development of admiralty law practice in the United States.
The course objectives are to increase awareness of animal law issues; to evaluate the development of existing laws regarding the use and treatment of animals in human society, the rationale behind them, and their effectiveness; and to stimulate critical thinking regarding ways to improve those laws.
The course goal is to teach students the applicable law and procedures in the area of trademark and related unfair competition law.

Founded in 1924, California Western School of Law (popularly known as California Western or Cal Western) is a private, non-profit law school located in San Diego, California.
The school was accredited by the American Bar Association in 1962 and became a member of the Association of American Law Schools in 1967.
California Western was originally chartered in 1924 by Leland Ghent Stanford as a private graduate institution called Balboa Law College, the first law school in San Diego.

 California Western school of law
This school is in the middle of downtown, in three lovely, modern buildings whose top floors have a view of the sparkling Pacific.
Coming straight from Berkeley (who doesn't offer tours just of the law school and who doesn't make appointments with admissions officers for prospective students) I couldn't help but find the contrast immense.
I'm sure Boalt is a friendly place for a student, but California Western seemed a friendly place no matter what.
