		Another theme that the band explores in the song is their own version of the meaning of the word "Californication." The chorus "Dream of Californication" is probably satirical, referencing musicians like KISS and Mötley Crüe, who use their fame to have sex with female fans.
		Californication is a unique video in that it takes the form of a video game from the point of view of the player.

		Although previous albums had more of a funk feel, Californication cements their move into the Alt Rock genre with songs like Scar Tissue, allowing Kiedis to show a level of maturity that some thought was less present in previous albums.

		It's not the deciding factor of whether I like/dislike it, Californication is not one of my favourites and I feel like it drags on too long.
