Beauty berry (Callicarpa spp.) is another of those grossly underused deciduous shrubs that offers great fall and early winter interest.
Callicarpa is a member of the Verbenaceae family and shares it with Caryopteris and Clerodendrun among others.
Callicarpa japonica, Callicarpa bodinieri and Callicarpa dichotoma are three that are worth using.
