Holiness Baptist Association - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Holiness Baptist Association is a holiness body of Christians with Baptist historical roots.
The holiness movement among Baptists in south Georgia began late in the 19th century in Wilcox County among ministers in the Little River Baptist Association.
At the annual session of the association in 1893, fellowship was withdrawn from two churches "because of their doctrine of holiness or carnal perfection".

HOLINESS: THE FALSE AND THE TRUE   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-05)
Holiness writers are very explicit, and generally draw attention to what they suppose to be the difference between justification and sanctification.
The Holy Spirit gives power to the Word, plowing up the conscience in the case of every one truly converted, and such a one is separated, set apart by a divine work within, from the indifferent multitude to which he once belonged.
The Holy Spirit who quickens and sanctifies at the beginning, leading to the knowledge of justification through faith in what God has said about the blood-sprinkling of Jesus Christ, abides now in every believer, to be the power for the new life, and thus for practical sanctification day by day.

 Baptist History Articles
The Philadelphia Baptist Association was the first Baptist Association in America and it adopted the Calvinistic 1689 Baptist Confession from London with two additions, the laying on of hands and the singing of Psalms, and became the Philadelphia Baptist Confession of Faith in 1742.
When new associations were formed in the north or south, those associations would adopt either the Philadelphia Confession or the London 1689 Confession and would follow the lead of the Philadelphia Association as to the sending circular letters, annual doctrinal messages at their Association meetings, receiving written questions and the use of catechisms.
Those association churches were as jealous of their autonomy and independence as any of us today, yet they saw the need of doctrinally like minded churches uniting to attack culture with the gospel and to draw out of it, God's elect.
